Did you know a famous delta is near the Mississippi river? A delta is composed to clay gravel and other sediment. A delta was formed when a river flows into an ocean sediment collects. A delta is shaped like a triangle. Deltas have rich soil so they are excellent farming areas. All of the sediment comes from the bottom of a river so when it comes up that’s where a delta comes from. The Mississippi delta has been around since ancient times. Even today the Mississippi river is washing thousands of tons of sediment down to the sea every year. As this sediment is deposited the Mississippi delta is growing larger. When a delta is forming the river speed slows down a lot. The Mississippi Delta in Louisiana produces many fruits vegetables and other crops. A delta is named by letter greek. When the river carries sand and aother small things to make a delta it also moves very slow. When these channel swiching events a mature delta will grain a distributary network. Inconclusion the only thing that can make a delta is piles of sediment that piles up near the mouth of a river.
